Amboseli & Tsavo Safari

Overview

This comprehensive southern Kenya safari combines two of the country's most iconic parks. Start in Amboseli, where massive elephant herds roam beneath the majestic shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. It's a photographer's paradise, offering some of the most stunning landscapes in Africa.

Then, journey east to the vast, rugged wilderness of Tsavo East and West. Known for its famous "red elephants" (dust-stained from the local soil), Tsavo offers a wilder, more remote safari experience, complete with volcanic landscapes, lava flows, and the legendary history of the man-eaters of Tsavo.

Sample Itinerary (6 Days)

  Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli

  Early morning departure from Nairobi, driving south to Amboseli National Park. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive with views of Kilimanjaro.

  Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli

  A full day dedicated to exploring Amboseli. Visit the Observation Hill for panoramic views, and spend time observing the park's famous elephants and other wildlife.

  Day 3: Amboseli to Tsavo West

  Depart Amboseli after breakfast and drive to Tsavo West National Park. Visit the Mzima Springs, a crystal-clear oasis where you can view hippos and crocodiles from an underwater observatory.

  Day 4: Tsavo West to Tsavo East

  Morning game drive in Tsavo West before crossing over to Tsavo East. The landscape changes to vast, open plains. Keep an eye out for the park's famous red elephants and the Galana River.

  Day 5: Full Day in Tsavo East

  Explore the vast wilderness of Tsavo East, visiting Lugard Falls and the Aruba Dam, prime spots for wildlife viewing. Enjoy a final full day of game drives.

  Day 6: Tsavo East to Nairobi

  Early morning game drive, then return to your lodge for breakfast. Begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon.
